My Journey

In 2004 after more than a decade in leadership positions in the nonprofit sector, I launched Better World Strategies LLC to serve the international development, education, conservation and humanitarian organizations that inspire me most. As a management consultant, I provided a wide range of strategic planning and organizational development services.

Over the years, my thinking about how best to serve the nonprofit community evolved. I came to realize that the best outcomes result from helping current and aspiring nonprofit leaders develop and leverage their own leadership capacities. And so, a little over a decade later, I set course in a new direction and NonprofitCoach™ was born.

Along the way, I was offered the privilege of serving as division chief with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

In this capacity, I managed an annual budget of more than $80 million, public-private partnerships with some of the world’s leading nonprofit international education and development organizations, and the network of more than 90 nonprofit international visitor centers throughout the U.S. which—together with our embassies abroad—carry out the U.S. government’s premier international exchange, the International Visitor Leadership Program.

Alumni of this prestigious program include more than 500 chiefs of state and heads of government, thousands of cabinet-level ministers, and many other distinguished government and NGO leaders from around the world. I am honored to have served this extraordinary community of world leaders—just as I look forward to the honor of serving you.
